Sash & Slash Just Passed 100 Plays

Nine days after launch, Sash & Slash: A Pixel Pirate Adventure has officially passed its first 100 plays.

For a small indie project, that first hundred feels pretty good. There was no massive advertising campaign, no publisher pushing it across every platform, and no giant launch machine behind it. It was simply released, shared, and left for people to discover—and people are actually playing it.

MakePlay sent over the milestone notice showing that Sash & Slash crossed the 100-play mark just nine days after launch. It may not be a gigantic number compared with major commercial releases, but that really isn’t the point. Every one of those plays represents somebody deciding the little pixel pirate game looked interesting enough to click on and spend some time with.

Sash & Slash started as a fun experiment: a colorful pirate adventure with ships, islands, treasure, sword fighting, and that old-school pixel-game feel. Seeing it reach its first real milestone this quickly makes me curious to see where it goes from here.

The next targets are simple enough: 250 plays, 500 plays, and eventually 1,000. For now, though, I’m perfectly happy celebrating the first hundred.

Thanks to everyone who has played it, shared it, or even just taken a look. There is plenty more happening around Idle Hands Workshop, but today the pirates get the spotlight.
